Tatkal Railway Reservation

I found the answer myself by tracking the availability status of tickets in a particular train. While both regular and Tatkal tickets were waitlisted when I started this exercise, I found that the regular waitlist got shorter, obviously because there were cancellations. However, the Tatkal waitlist did not change at all. This could only mean that the Tatkal waitlist queue moves only when a confirmed Tatkal ticket (or a waitlisted Tatkal ticket with a lower waitlist number) gets cancelled. This of course was surprising... but you know how our Railway works.

20% of total seats in a train is reserved for tatkal. Tatkaal Have the preference in the waitlist as they charge premium for this service only . Tatkal wait list start after this quota and tatkal waitlist clear first when a regular ticket canceled. Tatkal waitlist will start only 5 days before the schedule departure of a train but general waitlist start at any time as soon as general ticket start waitlist at that time only general waitlist will be getting priority as there is no tatkal waitlist at that time.
