The PNR is the short form of Passenger Name Record which is a unique ten digit number printed on the ticket at the top left hand corner. It is primarily used by those passengers who have already reserved their accommodation and would like to know the status of their ticket. One can get the details and status of journey by quoting the PNR number.

How to find PNR Status using SMS?

The procedure to get PNR Status in mobile is as follow:

1. Just write 10 digit PNR number and send that SMS to 9773300000


Indian Railway , in collaboration with Google is now providing a 10 digit
Mobile number. Just SMS your PNR number on this mobile number and
instantaneously you will get your ticket's current status along with all
other journey related details.


The number is 9773300000. No need to prefix 0 or +91. Best of all, you
don't pay a premium charge for any of this, just the price of a standard
SMS. Don't forget to save this number in your address.
One should take care not to prefix 0 or +91 for sending SMS. Passengers will be charged at the price of standard SMS only and there are no premium SMS charges applied

 

It has markedly increase the relief and comfort level of the passengers. 

Nilgiri Mountain Railway in India - Mountain Railway of India By UNESCO

The Nilgiri Mountain Railway is a railway in Tamil Nadu in India, built by the British in year 1908, and was initially operated by the Madras Railway , UNESCO as  added the Nilgiri Mountain Railway as an extension to the World Heritage Site of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, the site then became known as "Mountain Railways of India

Mettupalayam-Ooty-Coonor:

Coonoor is on the corner of the Nilgiri plateau and about 6,000 meters above sea level. Coonoor was the terminus for the Nilgiri from the last 8 years. The government made the expansion of Coonoor to Ootacamund and this line became functional on 15 September 1908. This line is widely used and many passengers and can travel easily through it.

Main Feature

There is no cross-platform to join the meter-gauge train leaving the station at 7.25 am. The train arrives at Udagamandalam am to 11.40 am The Nilgiri Railway (NMR) is one of the achievements of engineers.

DMRC to introduce eco-friendly rickshaws,Delhi Metro to introduce eco-friendly rickshaws




In india ,Delhi Metro is the city modern symbol,delhi on the verge of coming out with a solution for a perpetual problem that has been forcing many to take to the wheels, relying less on public transport.

     

Eco-friendly rickshaws, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation feels, is the best way to help people to  reach Metro stations from their homes where a bus or a van cannot go due to a variety of reasons.
Though feeder bus is one option that has been tested with less success, the Delhi Metro feels battery-run e-rickshaws will help ferry people from their homes to stations which are either far away or located at a not-so-walkable distance.

To test waters, the Delhi Metro wants to introduce the e-rickshaws as pilot project at Chhatrapur Metro Station from where these vehicles would ferry people from home and back.


The Delhi Metro has invited Expression Of Interest from interested agencies which had similar work experience and are well-versed with the guidelines issued by “UTTIPEC” on a model of design, build, own, operate & transfer system (DBOOT) for operation of e-rickshaw.

DMRC will be providing only area for construction of infrastructure and selected operator will make his own arrangement for electricity for charging of batteries of e-rickshaw, the document says.

The Indian Railways has begun the crackdown on touts who manipulate the ticket booking system to corner Tatkal tickets and then sell them to genuine passengers at a premium. Railway Police Force on Saturday morning launched simultaneous raids across Delhi and arrested four touts.Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a subsidiary of the Indian Railways that handles e-booking of tickets, admitted that the system needs a revamp.he Railway will soon have separate counters and timings for Tatkal bookings, CCTVs will be installed at all booking centres and several changes will be made in e-ticketing as well to curb malpractices.According to railway officials the booking clerk will not be allowed to use the mobile phone during the working hours

new train Air Conditioned Double-Decker Train from Jaipur from Delhi - ready to roll



Those train travelling to Jaipur from Delhi can look forward to a novel experience with the Railways ready with a double-decker, air-conditioned train on the route.


Railway minister mr.Mukul Roy was scheduled to flag off the double-decker train service to the Pink City from Sarai Rohilla station in Delhibut the launch was postponed due to the death of Congress leader and Cabinet minister Vilasro Deshmukh.

The train, which will be a daily service, is expected to cover the distance between the national capital and Jaipur in five hours. Railway officials said the train will leave Sarai Rohilla at 5.35 pm and reach Jaipur at 10.05 pm. The train will leave Jaipur at 5.55 am on its return journey.

The double-decker coach, being manufactured by the Kapurthala coach factory in Punjab, has a seating capacity of 120. Equipped with fully automatic doors, each coach has eight emergency windows and fire extinguishers near its door.

The coaches have been designed keeping both safety and passenger comfort in mind, a senior railway official said. Also, each coach will have a mini-pantry including fridge and microwave.

Railways got safety certification from the Commissioner of Railway Safety ( CRS) after meeting all requirements.

The operation of a double-decker train is not new for Railways. In 2010, former railway minister Mamata Banerjee had flagged off an AC double-decker service between Dhanbad and Howrah.

Double-decker services on Mumbai-Ahmedabad and Jaipur-Delhi routes were part of a slew of announcements in the railway budget 2011-12. But the services, the brainchild of Banerjee, failed to take off last year because of delay in manufacture of double-decker coaches and getting safety clearance.

The double-decker service between Mumbai and Ahmedabad is also expected to be launched this month.
